Traffic diversion plan issued for Muharram processions in Sgr | KNO

Multiple routes to be diverted from June 30 to July 21; commuters urged to follow advisory for hassle-free movement

Srinagar, Jun 27 (KNO): Srinagar Traffic Police on Friday issued a detailed traffic advisory for smooth vehicular movement during the Muharram processions in various parts of the city from June 30 to July 21, 2025. The advisory aims to facilitate both commuters and mourners during the religious processions, which are held in connection with the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram that began on June 27 (today). Officials, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said several key routes in Srinagar will witness diversions on specified dates and times, especially in areas including Rainawari-Hazratbal road, Zadibal, Hawal, and Lalbazar Srinagar. It says, among the key diversion dates are June 30 (4th Muharram), Rainawari-Hazratbal road & Zadibal area with diversions from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On July 1 (5th Muharram), Rainawari-Hazratbal & Zadibal with diversions from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On July 2 (6th Muharram), Zadibal area with diversions from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On July 3 (7th Muharram), Rainawari-Hazratbal road with diversions from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. On July 4 (8th Muharram), Zadibal area with diversions from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. On July 5 (9th Muharram), Rainawari-Hazratbal & Zadibal with diversions from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM. On July 6 (10th Muharram - Ashura), Zadibal area with diversions from 4:00 AM to 6:00 PM. On July 7 (11th Muharram), Rainawari-Hazratbal & Zadibal with diversions from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM. On July 8 (12th Muharram), Bagwanpora Lalbazar with diversions from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. On July 21 (25th Muharram), Zadibal area with diversions from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Moreover, the alternate routes as announced by officials are as follows: traffic from Lal Chowk towards Hazratbal will be redirected via Khanyar-Dastgeer Sahib-Nowhatta-Hawal-Lalbazar, while vehicles from Hazratbal towards the city will be diverted through Saderbal-Lalbazar. Similarly, traffic from Gojwara will be routed via Hawal-Ali Masjid (Dr. Ali Jan Road). Moreover, the traffic department has urged motorists to cooperate and plan their travel accordingly. Any additional diversions, if required, will be communicated separately. “For more updates, commuters are advised to stay in touch with the Srinagar Traffic Police,” the officials said—(KNO)
